Reopening of Boracay to make a big global event



Boracay should be a major global event to re-open - Senator Recto

Recto asserted that the Boracay closure must be implemented "one step backward, two steps forward strategy" or the government must double-act for the island's reopening promotion.

Recto stressed that the closure is important to rest the island and regain its beauty to show the world its resurrection.

“I think government should market the six-month closure as nee­ded beauty rest and that after 25 weeks, it will wake up more refreshed and rejuvenated,” saad ni Recto.

“Kahit naman mga sikat na hotel, museums, parks, kapag nag-undergo ng renovation, inaabangan ang muling pagbubukas,” dagdag pa ng senador.

The big challenge to the government's communications team is the island's massive promotion to attract more hotels and flight bookings.

The Department of Tourisma can use its P1.15 billion advertising budget for 2018.

The government should also use the creativity of Filipinos and the world's heaviest social media users for doing memes for Boracay promotion.
“Ang gagaling na­ting gumawa ng memes. Gawin natin ‘yan para sa Boracay. Pero yung po­sitive, para maengganyo ang mga turista na bumalik pagkatapos ng anim na buwan na rehabilitasyon.

Tap the social media influencers. At kung sinuman ang mga commanders ng troll armies, masabihan sila na tumulong din,” giit pa ng mambabatas.

“Maraming pwedeng gawin. Teasers, countdowns. All the bells and whistles. Pati YouTube posts, which can attract millions of views. Ngunit ngayon pa lang, dapat gawin na ito,” dag­dag nito.


It is also possible to declare 2019 as Visit Boracay Year.
