Duterte meeting with Kian’s parents '"GIMMICK LNG DAW " says Trillanes

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Tuesday said President Rodrigo Duterte's meeting with the parents of slain teenager Kian Loyd Delos Santos was a "damage-control measure" and a "gimmick."

"It's a damage-control measure but it's too bad for them to be caught because Duterte's initial instinct is hidden, so it took them more than a week before they thought it was such a gimmick, but it's just a gimmick," Trillanes said. In an interview.

The senator also said it was "tasteless" that Delos Santos' parents were told to do the signature fist sign with Duterte for a photo-op.

"It's just a bit of a taste that's just a fist gesture, it's very tasteless, that's what anyone said, what's wrong, it's a mourning family for you? But I hope the parents of Kian Delos Santos died because of Duterte.

The victim's mother, Lorenza, also hugged Duterte at a lunch party at the Malago Clubhouse in Malacañang Park and took pictures.

Senator Risa Hontiveros, who detained three witnesses at the time of the death of Delos Santos, said he respects the decision of the teenagers parents.

"I respect the decision of the family of Kian Delos Santos to meet President Duterte. I also respect their right to continue to place their trust in him," Hontiveros said.
